Dead Sea at Leisure. Time to mud up! You can’t visit the Dead Sea without mudding up your entire body.
in Route to Petra: Bethany, Mount Nebo & Madaba Before continuing to Petra, begin your day with a visit to the Baptism Site of Bethany Beyond the Jordan, a place of profound religious significance. Recognized as the location where John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ, this sacred site has been referenced in the Bible and in Byzantine and medieval texts. It is now officially identified on the east bank of the Jordan River, just a 15-minute drive from the Dead Sea area. Bethany formed an important stop along the early Christian pilgrimage route, connecting Jerusalem, the Jordan River, and Mount Nebo. In addition to its association with the baptism of Jesus, this area is linked to the biblical story of the Prophet Elijah, who is said to have ascended to heaven in a whirlwind on a chariot of fire from this region. Next, travel to Mount Nebo, the revered mountain believed to be the burial site of Prophet Moses. From its summit, enjoy panoramic views over the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and even Jerusalem on a clear day. While at Mount Nebo, visit a mosaic school and workshop, where you'll gain insights into the artistry behind Jordan's famed mosaics and enjoy a masterclass with a skilled artisan. Continue your journey to the historic town of Madaba, renowned as the "City of Mosaics." Here, you'll visit Saint George’s Church, home to the famous 6th-century Mosaic Map of the Holy Land, the oldest known geographic floor mosaic in existence. After this enriching cultural and spiritual exploration, proceed to Petra for your overnight stay.
Petra Exploration & Wadi Rum Desert Adventure Prepare for an unforgettable day as you explore the hidden marvels of Petra, the legendary "Rose-Red City" carved into the sandstone cliffs by the Nabataeans in the 3rd century BC. Begin your journey with a walk (or optional horse ride) through the dramatic Siq, a narrow, winding gorge flanked by towering cliffs. As the Siq opens up, you will be awestruck by Petra’s most iconic monument: Al-Khazneh—The Treasury—rising majestically over 40 meters (140 feet) high. Continue your exploration through this vast archaeological site, uncovering ancient royal tombs, temples, a Roman-style theatre, burial chambers, and the intricate water channels that once sustained this remarkable civilization. Following your tour of Petra, drive to the heart of southern Jordan’s desert landscape—Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon. This extraordinary place is virtually untouched by modern development, shaped over millennia by wind and weather into towering rock formations and vast sandy valleys. T.E. Lawrence famously described Wadi Rum as “vast, echoing, and God-like.” Experience the magic of Wadi Rum on a thrilling 2-hour Jeep Safari in a 4x4 vehicle, navigating through its iconic sandstone mountains and desert terrain. Along the way, Bedouin guides will share insights into the desert's natural resources, including native plants such as Anabasis articulata, traditionally used as natural soap due to its foaming properties. You'll also learn how dried desert plants serve as essential firewood for daily Bedouin life. Guests who wish to engage further in the Bedouin experience are welcome to help collect firewood, which will be used to brew authentic Bedouin tea, prepared fresh in the heart of the desert. As the day comes to a close, take in a breathtaking Wadi Rum sunset, watching the desert landscape transform under the golden light of dusk. Return to your desert camp for a traditional Bedouin-style dinner known as Zarb—a selection of meats and vegetables slow-cooked in an underground sand oven. Enjoy this unique culinary experience under a canopy of stars, accompanied by Arabic music and warm Bedouin hospitality
