Egypt is most definitely a good place to visit on a family vacation. If looking to relax ( Ex: Nile Cruise in Luxor / Aswan or Snorkeling at the Red Sea in Hurghada or Shram ) Egypt also offers several beaches, Adventure ( Ex: White Desert and Bahariya Oasis or St. Catherine and Mount Sinai ) ideal for rounding off your Egypt vacation.

What currency is used in Egypt?

The Egyptian pound is the official currency in Egypt and is commonly abbreviated as EGP or LE. The US dollar, pound sterling, and euro are accepted mainly in tourist areas and major cities.

All these three currencies can be exchanged easily into EGP at the official exchange rate at any Egyptian bank, bank desk in airports, foreign exchange counter in most upper hotels, and even at the same place where you buy your entry visa upon arrival in Egypt. Some credit cards. can also be used to withdraw Egyptian pounds at any ATM in Egypt. Please check with your local banks before departure. You must keep the receipt for the exchange process

Most of the banks are open from Sunday to Thursday; working hours being 0830 to 1400, though banks at the airports and the major entry ports are open 24 hours daily. Banks at the Malls are open on the weekends and official Holidays, Although Most tourist establishments accept credit cards such as Visa, Master Card. Some Nile cruises do not accept credit cards

What is the best time to visit Egypt?

The best time to visit Egypt would be during the winter months, from October to April. The temperatures are mild and pleasant, although evenings can become quite cool. December through January are the peak tourist months so expect large crowds if traveling at this time. The best time to enjoy the beaches, without having to endure the large crowds of summer tourists, would be from March to May. Temperatures at this time are warm and tourist sites are not too crowded.
